Home PC Question: given how fast computers upgrade what should I buy for the “basics”?

I am in the market for a new computer for my kids to use at home (three kids in grade school). My old computer is 7 years old so I just need a good PC that the kids can use to do school work and basic games. Going to the computer sites there are a lot of options. What should I consider as mandatory basics considering I want this computer to last me a few years.

I own a home in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Should I sell to buy in/near Atlanta, GA?

If I buy a home in Atlanta, Ga. for the same price that my home is worth here ($625,000.00) it would be like buying a million dollar home, if that same Ga. home was here in CA. I would be buying up.Without the million dollar price tag. The only thing that concerns me is that the Alparetta, Ga Real Estate market does not appreciate as fast as CA or many other states.I am also concerned about the crime rate index, which is higher in GA, than were I live in Rancho Cucamong, CA.

I am a single parent. We have a lot of friends here in CA, but the only relative here is my elderly mother. However, we do have many relatives on the East coast and in GA as well. I am an educator, and so finding a job should be easy. I also find people, including men to be very friendly. Chances are that I could met someone nice. GA is also very beautiful. So all of the above are the reasons that I am strongly considering moving to Alanta, Ga.

Best place to buy a Foreclosed House near Atlanta?

I looking to move to GA, sometime in the near future, and am also interested in buying a bank foreclosed home (NOT auction). Preferably something about $70,000.
I don’t know the areas, so I don’t know where is a great deal for the area or in the slums. I would prefer to stay just outside of the city or in a close neighboring suburb.

If you could tell me where the decent (not fantastic, not horrible) areas are I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, if you know of a website that gives this info, please share!

We are looking to rent a house or trailer. There is the three small children and two adults. We are sobre and hard working and do not smoke indoors. I looked and asked and pleaded but no luck have I found us a home. Does anyone know of anyone renting in Alberta?
ANYWHERE in Alberta. Right now we are currently in St. Paul and are willing to move anywhere. Ever since the oil boom this province became pretty popular to live. So we are still looking… Anything helps. Oh and it has to be big enough for 4 children and two adults.

writing off portion of rent on home based business?

I wish to start a home based business that will entail me using a portion of my apartment as an office/studio. If I have a one-bedroom apartment, can I still write off a percentage of my rent, even though I do not have a dedicated room used solely for business? Or do I need to live and sleep in the living room, and set my bedroom aside as a work space? I live in Vancouver, BC, if it makes a difference.
