I need to know what are the important sensors to have? Obviously smoke alarms are one but what are the others and where should they be places?

The only other one I can think of, besides an alarm system installed throughout the house, is a carbon monoxide detector. This should be installed in a central location within the house. It will detect a build-up of carbon monoxide from a gas stove or furnace that isn’t burning the gas properly.
I can’t sleep in my house with out my explosive gas detector and my carbon monoxide detector. One I would like to get is a sensor that detects moisture in the basement. We have a sump pump and twice last year we had so much rain that it couldn’t keep up, so we ended up with an inch of water in that room that time, and then the other time we ended up with 2 inches in that room, with up to an inch elsewhere in the basement.
